That Won't Work
JGNL#18 The Amazing 3 Words You Should Value
The Week That Was
I had an extremely busy week. This week I had a monthly production release, I was working on an eBook, as well as I had to attend 3 meetings outside of work. One of them being a day-long session on leadership. I was minded to skip this newsletter, but I decided to push it onward anyway.
So how are you all doing? —crickets—- LOL. I know you are reading my newsletters, would love it if you could drop in the comment section to say hi.
Let's get to the topic for today. We will discuss the most beautiful words a budding creator can be told “That Won’t Work”
The Power Of “That Won’t Work”
When was the last time that you had an amazing idea that you thought would change the way things are, and you shared it with someone you trust to be your confidante, and they said that won’t work?
Did that break your heart? Or did it make you curious?
Which of the two it was can determine your chances of the success of that idea.
Here is the thing, when we come up with ideas and have dwelled on them for a while we are usually convinced of it working. Only once we are convinced do we go ahead and share it with someone else.
An idea you have delved into for a while will sound perfect to you, but this confidence can end up being the reason for it to fail. What your idea lacks is a perspective.
The person who says that won’t work is the exact person you need to avoid this pitfall.
When you get such a response, do not feel offended, feel curious.
Ask that person why they feel so and learn from their perspective. Keep on refining the idea till it becomes fault-free.
But be aware, that not everyone is worth being heard. Some people just say this to discourage you.
It is essential to know who is who to grow.
If you have naysayers but the person has nothing constructive to provide, then ignore them.
Look for crtiques not naysayer.
So next time you have an amazing idea and you get ‘That Won’t Work’, embrace the response. You might have just got the next best idea.
